Hardy Island Collection · Sheltered Outdoor · Weathered Brass
From the Hardy Island Collection — a fully enclosed wall lamp designed for sheltered outdoor spaces: covered porches, verandas, awnings, and roofed entryways. Cast in solid brass and finished to develop a distinctive natural patina over time, the Hardy brings refined coastal charm to protected exteriors — durable in humid, breezy conditions, considered in its proportions, but not built for direct rain or unsheltered exposure.

Before You Buy — Compact Sizing
This is a small fixture. The Hardy measures D 10 × W 5 × H 10 cm (∅ 3.9″ × W 2″ × H 3.9″) — roughly the size of a pear. It is best suited as accent lighting, marker lighting, or pathway-adjacent illumination. Please confirm these dimensions against your wall and design intent before ordering.

- Mount in a sheltered location: covered porch, veranda, awning, gazebo, or roofed entry. Avoid positions exposed to direct rain or sprinkler spray.
- All mounting hardware is included. Fits a standard wall box.
- Ensure the supply circuit is 110V AC. Do not connect to 12V landscape lighting transformers.

- Seal mounting penetrations with exterior-grade silicone to prevent moisture ingress at the wall plate.
FAQ
Will the brass develop a patina over time? +
Yes — solid brass naturally develops a deeper, weathered patina over time, especially in humid or coastal sheltered environments. This is part of the Hardy Island Collection's design intent. If you prefer a stable, unchanging finish, choose Matte Black or Silver instead.
Can I use this with my 12V outdoor lighting system? +
No. The Hardy operates on AC 110V only. Connecting it to a 12V low-voltage landscape transformer will not work and may damage the fixture. If you need a 12V option, please look at a different fixture in our outdoor range.
Which bulb should I use? +
A G4 bi-pin LED bulb rated for 110V AC. We recommend a warm white (2700K) LED at 2–3W for an ambient, pathway-friendly glow. Avoid 12V G4 bulbs — they will not work with this fixture.
Can I install this in a fully exposed outdoor position? +
No. The Hardy is designed for sheltered outdoor use — covered porches, verandas, awnings, pergolas with a solid roof, gazebos, or roofed entryways. Avoid positions where the lamp would be hit by direct rain, sprinklers, or pooling water. The brass housing handles humidity, breeze, and salt air, but it is not rated for direct precipitation.
Where does the Hardy work best given its size? +
Given its compact 10 cm height, the Hardy is ideal for: pathway accent lighting (mounted at low wall level), framing entry doors with a pair, marker lighting along stairs, garden wall punctuation, or as a series along a fence line. It is not intended as a primary porch light.
How do I care for the finish? +
Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth. For coastal locations, an occasional wipe with a slightly damp cloth removes salt residue. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes — they will strip the patina or matte finish. The brass finishes are designed to age naturally; this is not a defect.

- Compatible with standard dimmer switches unless the listing notes otherwise.
- Bulb base type (e.g. E12, E26) is listed on each product page; bulbs are not included unless stated.
- Select pieces are made to order — see the product page for current lead time before ordering.
Materials and care
Materials and care
- Alabaster, marble & stone: dust with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water and household cleaners — they can etch or stain natural stone.
- Brass & metal finishes: wipe with a dry microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which will strip the patina.
- Fabric shades: spot clean only with a dry cloth.
- Glass: apply a mild glass cleaner to a soft cloth, not directly to the fixture.
- Always turn off and let the fixture cool before cleaning.
- Keep fixtures away from direct moisture unless the listing specifies it's rated for outdoor or wet locations.
Styling tips
Styling tips
- Wall sconces: mount at 60–66″ from the floor to the center of the fixture; space paired sconces 24–30″ apart.
- Pendants: hang 30–36″ above a table or counter surface, adjusting for ceiling height.
- Chandeliers: as a general sizing guide, allow roughly 2.5–3″ of fixture width for every foot of room width.
- Warmer bulb temperatures (2700K–3000K) bring out the tone in natural materials like alabaster and brass.
- Pairing with a dimmer switch gives you more control over ambiance in living and dining spaces.
