Washi Paper Pendant · Black Plug-In · White Mulberry Paper · Inline Switch · E26 / E27
Each shade is formed from handmade mulberry washi paper — the same paper-making tradition practiced in Japan for over a thousand years. Washi made from mulberry (kozo) fiber produces a sheet of exceptional strength and translucency: the long bast fibers create a surface with a visible, irregular texture that diffuses light into a soft, warm, and completely glareless glow. No two shades are identical — the paper carries the mark of the hand that formed it.
The fixture hangs from a black plug-in cord with a built-in inline on/off switch — 450 cm of cord that requires no hardwiring and no electrician. Seven configurations range from compact 3-head clusters to single tall pendants reaching 470 cm — designed for stairwells, double-height spaces, and atriums where a long vertical form is the architectural intention.
Features
Handmade Mulberry Washi
Kozo mulberry fiber paper — long-fiber construction produces a translucent, glareless diffuser with visible hand-formed texture.
Plug-In · No Hardwiring

Plug-In Installation
Plug-In · 450 cm Cord · Inline On/Off Switch
This pendant uses a black plug-in cord (450 cm / 177″) with a built-in inline switch — no hardwiring, no junction box, no electrician. Drape the cord from a ceiling hook (included or sourced separately), plug into any wall outlet, and use the inline switch to control the light independently of your room switch. Ideal for rental spaces, rooms without ceiling wiring, and installations where repositioning may be needed.

Bulbs are not included. Each socket is E26 (US) or E27 (international). For washi paper shades, a 6–10W LED at 2700K warm white with a frosted or opal diffuser is recommended — the soft output spreads evenly through the translucent paper without creating a visible hotspot. Avoid clear-glass or bare filament bulbs above 4W — the filament can appear as a bright point through thin washi paper.

FAQ
What is mulberry washi paper? +
Washi is handmade Japanese paper produced from the bast fibers of the kozo (mulberry) plant. The long, interlocking fibers create a sheet that is simultaneously stronger and more translucent than wood-pulp paper — it diffuses light through its surface rather than blocking it, producing a soft warm glow with visible fiber texture. Because each sheet is formed by hand, the thickness, fiber distribution, and surface pattern varies slightly between shades. This is intrinsic to the craft, not a defect.
How do I hang a plug-in pendant? +
The most common method is a ceiling hook — a small adhesive or screw-in hook mounted to the ceiling at the desired hang point. Drape the black cord over the hook, adjust the length of the drop, and plug into a nearby wall outlet. The inline on/off switch on the cord controls the light independently. No wiring is required and no holes are made in the ceiling if an adhesive hook is used. For heavy or tall configurations, a load-rated screw-in ceiling hook is recommended.
Which configuration suits my space? +
For standard ceilings (2.4–3 m): the 3-head S, M, or L versions are appropriate — choose by diameter to match your table or space. For higher ceilings (3–4 m): the 5-head (H 270 cm) or Single 220 cm create a vertically dramatic element. For double-height or atrium spaces above 4 m: the Single 340 or 470 cm versions are designed specifically to fill a tall void with a single uninterrupted washi form. Always confirm ceiling clear height before ordering a tall configuration.
How do I care for a washi paper shade? +
Washi paper is durable but should be kept dry. Avoid installing in damp areas or near sources of direct moisture. Dust gently with a dry soft brush or low-suction vacuum attachment — do not wipe with a damp cloth. Minor dents or creases can sometimes be eased by lightly humidifying the affected area with steam from a distance, then allowing to dry naturally. Keep away from direct touch as finger oils can stain over time.
Product features
Product features
- Hand-finished in natural materials — alabaster, marble, brass, and blown glass — so slight variation in veining, grain, or patina between pieces is normal and expected.
- Hardwired or plug-in per listing; check the individual product page for the exact wiring type and included cord length.
- Compatible with standard dimmer switches unless the listing notes otherwise.
- Bulb base type (e.g. E12, E26) is listed on each product page; bulbs are not included unless stated.
- Select pieces are made to order — see the product page for current lead time before ordering.
Materials and care
Materials and care
- Alabaster, marble & stone: dust with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water and household cleaners — they can etch or stain natural stone.
- Brass & metal finishes: wipe with a dry microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which will strip the patina.
- Fabric shades: spot clean only with a dry cloth.
- Glass: apply a mild glass cleaner to a soft cloth, not directly to the fixture.
- Always turn off and let the fixture cool before cleaning.
- Keep fixtures away from direct moisture unless the listing specifies it's rated for outdoor or wet locations.
Styling tips
Styling tips
- Wall sconces: mount at 60–66″ from the floor to the center of the fixture; space paired sconces 24–30″ apart.
- Pendants: hang 30–36″ above a table or counter surface, adjusting for ceiling height.
- Chandeliers: as a general sizing guide, allow roughly 2.5–3″ of fixture width for every foot of room width.
- Warmer bulb temperatures (2700K–3000K) bring out the tone in natural materials like alabaster and brass.
- Pairing with a dimmer switch gives you more control over ambiance in living and dining spaces.
